This is a template. Work through this guide to set up your playbook, then point AI at the AI Thinking Partner Playbook subpage when you want a thinking partner.

What this playbook does

When you're working through a problem and ask AI to use this playbook, it will:

  1. Recognise that you're thinking, not asking for a task
  2. Select the most relevant framework from your list
  3. Walk you through it step by step, asking questions along the way
  4. Help you arrive at a clear conclusion or decision

The output isn't answers. It's better thinking. AI becomes the colleague who asks the right questions at the right time.

Why a thinking partner?

Most people use AI to generate outputs: write this, summarise that, build me a thing. That's useful, but it misses something.

The real unlock is using AI to think with you. Not to replace your judgement, but to apply structure to it. The kind of structure you know you should use but rarely do in the moment.

You probably already have frameworks you trust for decisions, strategy, problem solving, or prioritisation. The problem isn't knowing them. It's remembering to use them when it counts.

This playbook solves that. You define your frameworks once. AI applies them when you're thinking out loud.

Set up your frameworks

The playbook ships with placeholder frameworks that won't produce useful results. You need to replace them with frameworks that matter to your work.

What makes a good framework?
